January 2006: Travel Diary  (DV, 66min, 2006)

  • video diary / personal documentary

.....Personal documentary details and represents an individual’s trivial daily life. And through such a process, what the audience encounters more than the actual realities of the filmmaker is his emotional experience. This documentary shows images that resemble out random glances directed out the window. Sometimes, we look out and instead of seeing the picturesque landscape beyond we get to see the whole picture which is the outside framed and filtered by the dusty window glass. And we find that this somewhat skewered image speaks to our emotions. The most important moments of this work are made e of such connections. The film, in a sense, is coming of age story. We are seeing the emotional contents of a person poised for some unknown thing after graduating from school. The images of the film, actually film itself, seem fragile, and the faces, lonely. It is as if we are looking at things anew, through the fine, interwoven threads of silk. (Byun Youngjoo)
