Gye-joong Kim is an experimental filmmaker, co-founder and program director of EXiS (Experimental Film and Video Festival) in Seoul. Since 2002, after finishing his BFA and MFA in Film & Video at California Institute of the Arts, he has been living in Seoul, creating experimental cinematic works as well as working to expand South Korean alternative filmmaking communities. Kim is interested in approaching modern media art from the perspective of cinema as an artistic medium, both in terms of fields of creative production and support for artists and local scenes. The genre of his works varies from video diary to experimental fiction. He's been living and working in Canada since 2013.
